Our Story
Our Process
Each blanket begins right here on our King Country farm, where our lambs graze on rolling hills beneath Mount Tibby. The fibre from each shearing is carefully selected for its colour, softness and strength, before starting its journey through the hands of skilled New Zealand makers.
Once shorn, the fibre travels north to Napier to be scoured (washed), then to Wellington where it’s spun into yarn. Finally, the yarn heads to Auckland, where it’s woven into the blankets you see today.
The result is a throw that’s natural, breathable, and timeless, crafted to bring the warmth of our land into yours.
Meet the Makers
We farm alongside our three daughters, Eva, Maddy, and Allegra. Life here is full of muddy boots, motorbikes, and eeling down by the creek; the kind of country childhood that keeps you grounded and in touch with the land.
Yarns by Mt Tibby began as a way to honour the fibre we grow and create something lasting from our land, but it’s also about the future, showing our girls what’s possible when you take an idea and make it real.
Our eldest, Eva, loves fashion and design, and we hope this business could one day be a creative outlet for her too. Together, we’re learning what it means to be makers, of both products and memories, right here on the farm.

What makes Yarns by Mt Tibby blankets special?
Our blankets are made from 100% New Zealand lambswool, grown right here on our King Country farm. Every stage — from scouring and spinning to weaving and finishing — happens locally, keeping our products genuinely NZ-made. The result is a soft, breathable, and naturally insulating throw that combines comfort, sustainability, and craftsmanship.
Where are your blankets made?
Every blanket is made right here in New Zealand, from the fleece grown on our King Country farm to the spinning and weaving done by local makers in Napier, Wellington, and Auckland. 100% NZ made, start to finish.
What makes your wool different?
Our lambswool is grown with care on healthy pastures. We select fleeces for colour, softness and strength, and because it’s shorn from lambs, the fibre is finer, lighter, and softer than most standard wools.
How do I care for my blanket?
We recommend dry cleaning to preserve the softness and avoid shrinkage. If you do choose to wash it yourself, use a gentle wool cycle in cool water and dry flat — heat will cause felting.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes — we ship from our farm in New Zealand to Australia, the UK, Europe and beyond. You’ll receive tracking details once your order has been dispatched.
Will you be creating more products?
Yes — we hope so! This is just the beginning. Our eldest daughter is passionate about fashion and design, and we’d love to see her creativity influence future pieces. As the business grows, we plan to explore other woollen homewares made right here in New Zealand.
